    Well that was a nice change of pace….the race was actually mildly exciting this year! Sure, the sprint stages (i.e. most stages) are mind-numbingly boring (especially having to listen to Uncle Phil babble on!), but the two hilltop finishes were exciting and the last day’s breakaway almost overturned the apple cart completely. When they still had over 2′ w/ ~7km to go, I thought there was no chance they were going to bring it back….. Good start to the season!

    I’m no help here….haven’t bought new MTB shoes in ~20 years (dead serious). Both pairs I have from then are still in great shape – one pair of electric blue SHimanos w/ carbon soles and a super-comfy pair of Answers.

    Happy New Year, everyone…..had my biggest mileage year ever in 2019. 10,940 miles….dunno if I will ever hit that again, though. I was pretty wrecked by the time I got to September. Muddled through the end of the year by substantially dropping the intensity and just enjoying riding.

    I hope everyone has a great 2020, filled with many miles and adventures!!
