The end of another storied industry brand?
in reply to: RIP to Colnago (the brand, not Ernesto!) #36572Sold to a group out of the UAE….they will almost certainly destroy the brand in an attempt to grab marketshare and push the brand down to lower price points…mark my words. https://www.bicycleretailer.com/industry-news/2020/05/04/colnago-sold#.XrGlEqhKiUk
in reply to: What mask do you use? #36496So many people have posted on various social medias how riding solo is so difficult for them, how they miss riding in a club etc.
I miss my group rides, too (especially our Tues / Thurs AM hammerfests)….but I’m willing to make that sacrifice. I have already told all ,y buddies that I likely won’t see them until 2021.
As for solo riding being “difficult”…..*shrug*. I enjoy both equally. They each have their place.
in reply to: What mask do you use? #36494I bought a 5-pack from Eliel….as noted above, gotta keep it in the family.
I don’t use it on the bike, since I am riding solo. I do carry it (and a pair of nitrile gloves) in a plastic bag in case I need to stop at a store for some reason.
Wearing a mask has become the de facto differing point between those who support social distancing and those that don’t. The ignorance shown by people who have no background in any science towards those that have a lifetime of experience is just mind-numbing.
Went out for a 50-miler yesterday….saw at least 4 groups, ranging from 4 to 8 riders. They are basically broadcasting to the world that the rules don;t apply to them….so people who observe them will logically say “well, the rules don’t apply to me either”.
IN the meantime, we still have ~2K deaths / day and the number of cases climbs consistently….we are not anywhere near the end of this. THIS is when it gets hard….when the weather gets nice, people are bored and the steps taken so far are actually working.
in reply to: Buyers regret? #36430Someone on the TrainerRoad forum had the same thing….they charged him for one month but then refunded him the rest of the year.
Seemed like a reasonable compromise….I’d reach out to them if you want to cancel.
in reply to: If your velo handle is based upon your past bike…. #36726Amanda Rose aka … aka … I’ve met him. (Not really by choice, Apparently he knew who I was. Came up and introduced himself (by his first aka which I have forgotten).
Really? I never knew that….knew you guys were both in Portland but never knew you had met IRL. Aluminum Frog, Wolfsbane, Amanda Rose and too many others I can’t recall.
Dude was really certifiable…..and his obsession with me was just creepy.
in reply to: If your velo handle is based upon your past bike…. #36721Hey….who let the new guy in?!?!?!
Good to see you, bz……keep the name!
in reply to: Merlin Cycles Ltd, beware! #36590Yes, two different companies / brands entirely. The U.K. mail order company has no relation to the bike brand.
I’m not certain who currently owns the bike brand currently…..
in reply to: Merlin Cycles Ltd, beware! #36585That sucks….hopefully your bank helps you out.
in reply to: The Ride of the Hard Man – interview w/ Hinault #36392The leg kick after the punch….LOL!!
in reply to: The Ride of the Hard Man – interview w/ Hinault #36389Oh, look….actual video of the punch!
in reply to: The Ride of the Hard Man – interview w/ Hinault #36388Don’t fook with The Badger.
in reply to: Paging CK, TT geek talk #36844Pretty normal for wattage to drop a bit when in aero…..a 10w drop is pretty minimal, so that is good. Plus, even with the drop and tougher conditions, you went .8mph faster.
Awesome!!
in reply to: Paging CK, TT geek talk #36838Couldn’t find any actual data on the Diamante tires, but based on price points, etc. I’d say you can save more than a few watts (and make for a much improved overall ride) if you get some new skins. Likely ~10-15w.
in reply to: Paging CK, TT geek talk #36836IN order of greatest improvement:
Clip-ons (but move your saddle forward a bit if you can so you can rotate your hips and lower you body)
Latex tubes (up to +10w right there)
Fast rubber….Vittoria Corsa Speed G+ tires are super-fast and super comfy. What helmet are you using? A good aero road helmet will save a lot of watts too.
