Xacobeo Galicia rider Gustavo Veloso will be able to resume training in two weeks after having successfully undergone surgery for a fractured collarbone. Veloso suffered his injury on December 20th while training on his mountain bike.

“I have keep my left arm immobilized until January 4th, which is when I will have it re-examined. I hope all is well after that and can gradually return to training,” explained Veloso.

The stage nine winner of this year’s Vuelta a Espana thinks this will be resolved “very quickly” and will only be a minor setback to his build up for the season.

“I have to thank the Hospital de Pontevedra Dominguez for their attention and doing the operation so quickly. Thanks to that, I think everything will be back to normal. I will just have to change my training for the new season a little,” he concluded.
