The autopsy on former classics star Frank Vandenbroucke, who died Monday night in Senegal, was completed this morning at the Aristide Le Dantec hopsital in Dakar. Vandenbroucke’s body was brought to the hospital Monday night by two Belgian diplomats.
Senegalese authorities had requested an autopsy to provide further insight into the cause of death, which still remains uncertain. According to initial reports there were no traces of a physical struggle. Further reports from the medical examiners are expected to provide more information about his mysterious death. At this time it is believed that his death was caused by a pulmonary embolism.
Senegalese authorities had earlier arrested three people citing theft of Vandenbroucke’s personal belongings. According to sid, two of the three suspects were men, and one was the Senegalese woman he spent his last hours with.
