The Tour de Georgia has been cancelled for the second consecutive year. In 2009 the race was also called off due to financial difficulties.
The week long tour saw its profile grow each year from 2003 to 2008, but the last two years saw the race run without a title sponsor.
Tom Saddlemire, board member of the Tour de Georgia Foundation, said organizers remain committed to bringing the race back “as soon as possible.” With the “current economic climate” he said calling off the race was the best decision.
