The Maastricht Six Day is set to return to the calendar next year. According to the organization behind the Six Day the race has been confirmed on the calendar for the upcoming three years. The race will make its comeback to The Netherlands’ most Southern region after having taken place between 1976 and 1987.

In 2006 the Maastricht Six Day had been placed back on the calendar for three years, only to be removed due to financial problems that have rocked cycling the past several years. Fred Rompelberg, however, sees a bright future for the popular track sport and has taken on the role as chairman of the organization. Rompelberg was best known for several world records on the track.

The first edition of the revamped race will take place between December 7th and 12th 2010. The following year, the Six Day will be scheduled a month earlier in November.
