Reporting news agency made mistake
Earlier news of Riccardo Riccò confessing to blood doping have been denied by Riccò’s lawyer. Italian news agency ANSA had reported the confession, but the only thing that the Italian rider had admitted to was receiving an iron solution.
The statement by Riccò’s lawyer was short, but firm. “The news are without any foundation,” he said according to cyclismactu.net.
ANSA corrected its reporting later on. “The auto-transfusion that was said to be done by the rider Riccardo Riccò is without base. Only an iron solution was prescribed by a doctor, nothing with regards to blood.”
