It looks like Dane Micheal Rasmussen will not make his re-appearance in the peloton in this year’s Vuelta a España as once thought.
According to Ductch newspapers, the UCI have prohibited the rider from signing a contract with Ceramica Flaminia based on suspected involvement in the Austrian scandal surrounding Stefan Matschiner and and the Viennese laboratory Humanplasma.
Matschiner, who had close ties to the 2006 Turin Olympics doping scandal, was named by fellow countryman Bernhard Kohl. Kohl was one of several cyclists to test positive for CERA in retroactive tests from last year’s Tour de France.
Kohl, who has since announced his retirement, cooperated with authorities naming several professional cyclists in the process. Matschiner, who has admitted to performing blood transfusions for Kohl, also managed Michael Rasmussen.
