Team Quick-Step has had a rough week with respect to injuries. Sebastien Rosseler crashed in the Tour of the Algarve and will be out for six weeks, Jerome Pineau injured his eye at his home earlier in the week, and the latest bad news is that Steven De Jongh has tendonitis in his left leg and won’t be able to take part in the Omloop Het Nieuwsbald and Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne this weekend.
“I’m really sorry that I won’t be able to take part in this weekend’s race,” explains De Jongh. “Last year I won at Kurne and it’s too bad I can’t be there now. The most important thing for me at this time is to recuperate from this injury 100% so I can be useful to the team in the next weeks. Saturday and Sunday I’ll be glued to the TV supporting for my team mates.”
De Jongh was instructed to take a break for 3 days, after which he will be able to carefully start training again.
