The Austrian Anti-Doping Agency announced Monday that cyclist Christian Pfannberger’s B-sample has come back positive for EPO, confirming the initial test.
Pfannberger is no stranger to positive doping tests, having served a two-year ban from 2004-2006 for testosterone use. Since he is a repeat offender, he will be facing an 8 years to lifetime ban in the sport.
Team Katusha and the International Cycling Union (UCI) suspended the rider in May when the initial results were announced. The 29-year-old national champion in 2007 and 2008 still denies EPO use.
