Finally offered a spot on a big team
Patrick Sinkewitz has been signed by the Italian ISD-Neri team, according to Süddeutsche Zeitung. The former T-Mobile rider was caught using testosterone in 2007 and served a reduced one-year suspension for cooperating with the investigation.
Sinkewitz was one of the first riders to come clean about his extensive doping practices. He admitted his testosterone use, but also went a step further by confessing that he had also used EPO and blood transfusions. He rode with the PSK Whirlpool last year, but wasn’t offered a contract renewal for 2010.
“It’s now been incredibly nice to wake up and know why you’re going to train,” said Sinkewitz to the paper.
Last season the 29 year old won a stage and the overall in the Sachsen Tour and also won the third stage of the Volta a Portugal em Bicicleta. He hasn’t raced in eight months and will make his first star with the ISD-Neri team at the Tour de Luxembourg next week.
