The Movement For Credible Cycling (MPCC) has updated it’s code of ethics so it is now more strict than the World Anti-Doping Agency.

The MPCC was created on July 24, 2007 by seven professional cycling teams in response to the breaking Operation Puerto scandal. It’s initial members included AG2R Prévoyance, Agritubel, Bouygues Télécom, Cofidis, Crédit Agricole, Française des Jeux and Gerolsteiner.

It’s misson was to defend the idea of a clean cycling.

The new entries into the code of ethics have to do with a mandatory 15 day rest for riders that are treated with prescribed Corticoid injections. In addition, they also a copy of the independent doctor medical books for the riders for their regular health checks.

These new measures are not enforced by non-MPCC member teams, most being members of the International Association of Professional Cycling Groups (AIGCP). It is now chaired by former professional cyclist Jonathan Vaughters, who now manages the Garmin – Slipstream team, which belongs to both organizations.
