World champion donates rainbow stripe DeFeet Aireators to children’s charity

mark cavendishWorld champion Mark Cavendish (Team Sky) has donated a 90 pairs of limited edition socks to Right To Play, which will be sold via the charity’s website. The DeFeet Aireators feature the rainbow bands, with the word “Cavendish” in script, and, until now, were available only to the Manxman himself.

The socks will be available for a limited time for £25 per pair, for which “Right To Play is able to provide weekly sport and play programmes for a child for an entire year,” according to the charity’s statement.

“This is your chance to help a child affected by war, poverty and disease, as well as getting an exclusive pair of socks for yourself.”

Cavendish has been an Athlete Ambassador with Right To Play for a number of years, through its connection with his former team HTC-Highroad. Since the team’s folding however, Cavendish and a number of his former teammates, have continued their association with the charity that helps some of the World’s most disadvantaged children.

“Sport has the power to inspire young people, to build self-esteem, confidence and leadership and to create extraordinary opportunities,” he said. “Right To Play’s focus is both essential and unique and I’m fully behind their work.”

As well as the standard socks, there will also be ten pairs personally autographed by Cavendish for sale at £100 a pair.

“With the World Championship socks you’ll have the chance to look just like the World Champion himself, well at least from the ankle down!”
