Team Silence-Lotto is out testing a custom bike build by their frame sponsor Canyon. The team’s leading contender for the cobbled classics Leif Hoste has been putting the new gear to the test.
If all goes well, the plan is to use the new bike specifically for races like the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix.
The changes from their standard bike have to do with the frame. The material used to build the bike is more flexible, and designed to provide better the shock absorption when riding over the famous cobblestones.
The characteristics of the frame make it a viable option for Paris-Roubaix only if the weather proves to be dry. Riding such a bike in wet weather for the “Hell of the North” could prove to be a disadvantage.
