Embattled cyclist Jörg Jaksche will be back in the peloton next season after a long layoff following his involvement in the Operation Puerto doping scandal. The 32-year-old winner of the 2004 Paris-Nice has signed a contract with Cinelli, a small professional team from Italy.

In June 2007 Jaksche became one of the first cyclists to admit doping, and outlined how he used banned substances, including EPO and growth hormone, for years without detection. The German also offered to b a witness in the Operation Puerto doping scandal that involved the now infamous doctor Eufemiano Fuentes.

His doping suspension was over at the beginning of the year, but the rider was unable to find an employer. The German told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf “I’m glad I still have found a team. We will see what happens. My expectations are not very high.”
