On the heels of signing reigning Tour de France champion Carlos Sastre, Cervélo TestTeam has announced that the “God of Thunder” Thor Hushovd will also be joining the squad. The thirty-year-old Norwegian has shown his worth under pressure having six Tour de France stages and a Green Jersey to his name.

Not only has Hushovd excelled in the final sprints, but the rider has also shown his versatility by beating out the prologue specialists on several occasions – the 2006 Tour de France being the most notable.

With his current team slated to hit the chopping block at the end of the year, Hushovd couldn’t be happier with Cervélo’s timing. “For me, it was easy to decide to join the Cervelo TestTeam,“ said the rider said in a team announcement, “I like the idea of this team, where not only victories count but also the opportunity to work together with the cycling industry. I think this is a modern way to run a team and is the future of cycling as a sport. After nine years with Credit Agricole, I am looking forward to the new challenges together with the Cervélo TestTeam.” Hushovd had nothing but praise for long time cycling sponsor Credit Agricole, and the team management.

Thomas Campana the General Manager of Cervélo’s TestTeam was happy to have closed the deal. “We are very pleased that Thor has decided to join Cervélo TestTeam. With him we have another leadership figure on our team,” said Campana. Both sides are eager to begin working on product development aspect of the new initiative.
