Ina-Yoko Teutenberg won her second consecutive bunch sprint in Merced on Sunday taking out the 115km Foothills Road Race. The win finished off the Hat-Trick of victories for the team after success in the Team Trial Trial on Friday and the criterium on Saturday.

Teutenberg attacked alone in the first of three laps and held a 30 second gap for around 20km before being caught by the field. The race ended in a sprint in which she overpowered Shelley Evans and Kelly Benjamin.

“I’m happy with the race,” said Teutenberg. “We tried to be aggressive early and make the race hard. I was in a solo break early which was hard so I was happy to be able to sprint well at the end of the race.

“The team did another great job going with breaks throughout the day but none of the breaks stuck so then they looked after me for the sprint at the end.

“It was a good weekend of racing to start the season. I really enjoy racing in Merced. We have a weekend off now and then head down to San Dimas and Redlands.”
