Race to be held in August instead

Tour of BorneoThe second edition of the Tour of Borneo was due to be held between April 26th and 30th but the organisers have had to take the unusual step of delaying the race for four months.

The event, which is run by the same organisation that holds the Tour de Langkawi each year, will now be run between August 18th to 22nd.

“The new dates have been approved by the International Cycling Union (UCI) upon request by the organisers via the Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF), following the unavoidable postponement due to a clash with the 13th general elections period,” stated those organisers today.

According to the race’s organising chairman Dato’ Fredie Sua, there are no issues in relation to the change. “We have actually prepared for the race to go on as scheduled and it was all systems go. We are all set, so the new dates are not a problem at all,” he stated.

The race debuted last year and was won by New Zealand’s Michael Torckler of the Pure Black Racing Team. It is ranked 2.2 on the UCI’s Asian calendar.
