Not planning on riding near the coast. 2 week trip covering most of the country. Really only want to do ventoux. I figure watching the tour in nice will be similar to my Atlanta Olympic experience. I was at an outdoor cafe with TVs and they’d go by once an hour on the circuit. I could venture to one of the climbs, but it won’t be like an alpine stage.

I’m heading to Northern France JUN/JUL for a friend’s daughter’s wedding.  Wife wants to make a large vacation around it.  I was bummed that the tour was starting in the south.  So she said “Let’s go early, I want to check out Nice”. Ironically as we booked rooms last night it coincides with the first three stages of the tour.  I just need to find out where to be and what time to see something good for action.  Lots of climbing on the first two stages on a circuit.  Should be interesting.  I just have to work in some sailing during those days to appease her.

As we work our way north she said she wants to check out the lavender fields around Mt. Ventoux.  Can I work in a climbing day up the mythical mountain while she looks at flowers?  Hmmmmmmm.

At the very least it gives me a goal to lose my winter weight and get back into climbing shape.
