After a disasterous 2009 Tour de France, Australian Cadel Evans will look to Spain’s Grand Tour to build his form for Worlds.

This year’s World Championships take place in Mendrisio, Switzerland, which is just a few kilometers from his home.

Evans, 32, was runner up in the Tour de France for the past two seasons, but couldn’t seem to put things together in this year’s edition. His form was incredible in the Dauphine Libere, putting a hurting on Spaniards Alejandro Valverde and Tour winner Alberto Contador in the mountains, but it was too much form too early for the man from Down Under.

He said his season will likely end with the Giro d’Lombardia, a race where he has has some good performances in the past.
