Newly crowned road World Champion Cadel Evans has just released a limited edition T-Shirt that reads: “DON`T STAND ON MY DOG.” The statement, of course, refers to an incident the Australian had when doing an interview after losing the yellow jersey on stage 15 of the 2008 Tour de France.

During the interview his dog Molly was with him, and when a person got a bit too close he was prompted to say, “Don`t stand on my dog or i`ll cut your head off.” Words that, at the time, were edited down to paint a very different picture of the incident.

While no doubt frustrated at the time, Evans said the comic nature of the moment was lost in the subsequent media whirlwind. Evans’ site describes the shirt as being for “everyone who likes, every now and then, not to take life too seriously.” You can purchase the shirt directly from his website.

Evans brings his rainbow jersey to the American BMC Racing team for the 2010 season after leaving the Belgian Silence-Lotto team.
