The Internation Cycling Union (UCI) has announced that Frenchman Mickael Larpe from the Roubaix-Lille Metropole team and Italian Alessandro Coló of ISD-Neri have been provisionally suspended following positive doping controls.

Larpe tested positive for recombinant EPO in a blood sample taken at the Cholet-Pays de Loire race on March 20th of this year. The testing was done by the by the Châtenay-Malabry Laboratory in France.

The Los Angeles Laboratory found the presence of clenbuterol in a urine sample taken from Coló at the Tour of Mexico conducted on April 25th.

The UCI advised that the provisional suspensions for both riders will remain in force until their National Federations hold hearings to determine whether or not the riders breached the UCI Anti-Doping Rules in accordance with Article 21 of the Rules.

Both riders have the right to request and attend the analysis of their B samples.
