Caisse d’Epargne confirmed today that they have signed three experienced riders for next season. Evergreen Christophe Moreau (Agritubel), Italian Marzio Bruseghin (Lampre-NGC), and Colombian climber Mauricio Soler (Barloworld). All three riders were rumored to sign for the team, but now rumor is fact.
Mauricio Soler is best known for winning the King of the Mountains competition in the 2007 edition of the Tour de France. Soler has been riding for the Barloworld team which will be folding at the end of the season.
Marzio Bruseghin will strengthen their presence against the clock. The Italian won his national time trial championships in 2006 as well as time trial stages in both the 2007 and 2009 Giro d’Italia. Bruseghin is also good in the mountains, and with his 3rd-place in the Giro d’Italia last year, he has proven he can be a threat to the general classification in stage races.
Christophe Moreau has seen the best of his cycling career, his last big wins being at the Criterium Dauphine Libere in and the French road national championships in 2007. In 2001 Moreau won the prologue in the Tour de France wearing the coveted malliot juane for two days time. Although he is at the tail end of a career that started back in 1994, the Frenchman is a strong utility rider, and could up his mental game in a supporting role.
