The Dutch Pro-continental team Vacansoleil only has two places left to fill. Five riders are in contention for last two spots and will have to fight it out in the upcoming races. The five in with a chance are Gerben Lowik, Reinier Honig, Wouter Mol, and the stagiares Thomas Berkhout and Rob Ruygh.
“At the moment we have five candidates for two spots,” said team manager Daan Luijkx.
“Only after the Tour of Lombardy can I decide. Several riders still have a chance to prove themselves,” he added.
Of the five Mol has the best papers, placing second at last weeks Sparkassen Münsterland-giro and third at the Hel van Mergelland. Stagiare Ruygh showed his worth in Vacansoleil’s blue and yellow colors by capturing a fifth place in the Druivenkoers and 11th overall at the Tour of Britain.
Lowik’s best result is a tenth place in the Eschborn-frankfurt City Loop, while Honig finished third at the Gp Kanton Aargau-Gippingen and top ten in several stages at the Tour of Britain.
