Eight foreign teams amongst field in tough 1.2-ranked race
A total of 29 teams have been confirmed for this year’s Tour of the Battenkill, with two Pro Continental squads and eight overseas teams amongst the long list of those set to take part in the tough 1.2-ranked event.
Team Type 1-Sanofil and United Healthcare Pro Cycling are the top-ranked outfits which will line out on Sunday April 15th. The overseas squads are the British Team IG – Sigma Sport and Team Raleigh-GAC lineups, plus the Canadian Garneau/Quebecor, Jet Fuel, Team Medique p/b Silber Investments, Équipe cycliste EKOÏ.com/Gaspésien, OCTTO presented by Cervélo and Ride with Rendall teams. The strong lineup will be completed by 21 US teams, including many Continental squads.
These entries will each feature between four and six riders. The race will be preceded on Saturday April 14th by a pro/am event which will see up to 3,000 people taking part.
Triple Tour de France winner Greg LeMond will be a guest of honour for that event. He’ll also appear at a book signing for The Jersey Project on April 13th.
The Battenkill weekend will be the first of Anthem Sports’ events in the Stan’s Notubes Great American Cycling Series. The others are May’s Tour of the Dragons in Bennington and Manchester, Vermont, August’s Tour of the Catskills in Hunter and Windham, September’s Tour of the Adirondacks (Lake George Region, New York) and Tour of Vail in Colorado, plus October’s BattenFall Classic in Cambridge.
