Says several possibilities open, decision about 2013 will be made before Vuelta
Two days after Saxo Bank Tinkoff Bank sponsor Oleg Tinkoff said that Roman Kreuziger would join the team next year, the Czech rider has denied that anything is finalised in his negotiations with teams.
“I deny it. No agreement is concluded and I have signed no contract,” he said on his website.
“Everything is absolute nonsense. My manager is in talks with several teams and would like something signed by the start of Vuelta, which starts August 18th. The manager I am in telephone contact and we’ll be back together at the Olympics in London. We’ll see what the options are, and decide accordingly.”
He added that he wouldn’t think about the subject now, choosing instead to focus on the Olympic Games.
Twice a top ten finisher in the Tour and fifth overall in the 2011 Giro, the 26 year old is regarded as a potential future Grand Tour winner. He led the Astana team in this year’s Giro but had to be satisfied with fifteenth plus a stage win at Alpe di Pampeago.
Kreuziger missed the Tour, and will instead line out in the Vuelta a España.
He is a past winner of the junior world championships, the Tour de Suisse and the Tour de Romandie.
