Rider takes national under 23 time trial and road race after signing deal
Following a strong ride in the Tour of Slovakia plus a very successful national championship campaign, the Androni Venezuela team has given the young rider Yonder Godoy a multi-year pro contract.
The twenty year old Venezuelan had previously only raced in South America but showed he has a solid level when he competed in the Tour de Bretagne, the Tour de Gironde and the Tour of Slovakia. He was tenth overall in the latter and also placed in the youth classification and sixth in the mountain ranking.
The team has announced that after undergoing a physiological assessment by Professor Fabrizio Tacchino, he has been given a three year deal.
Confidence on a high after the news, he duly won the Under 23 road race and time trial in Venezuela. His success in the latter test saw him clock a time of 35 minutes 54 seconds, ten seconds faster than the Elite winner Jose Rujano.
The new Androni-Venezuela rider recorded a time of 35’54” whereas the rider of Vacansolei recorded 36’04”.
It is not yet clear when his next race will be, or when he will begin competing with the pro squad.
