French team’s long-running backing continues

Jean Christophe PeraudContinuing one of the longest running sponsorships in the sport, Ag2r La Mondiale has decided to extent its sixteen year backing of the team of the same name, and has committed for the next three and a half years.

Team manager Vincent Lavenu and his riders have received the good news and know that the future of the team is safeguarded until at least then, a considerable boost.

“As general manager of the team, I am very proud to announce to all my riders and staff that the group Ag2r La Mondiale has decided to continue the adventure with us,” a pleased Lavenu said.

“We are lucky to be supported by a loyal and faithful partner that allows us to compete at the highest level through the World Tour circuit. It ensures security and serenity to riders who give the best of themselves to defend colours and values of the Ag2r La Mondiale group.”

While it has not taken a top three place on any of the stages, the team has had a solid Tour de France. It has attacked regularly, and Jean-Christophe Peraud is currently sitting ninth overall. He will aim to consolidate his top ten place in the general classification in the days ahead, and move higher if possible.

According to the chief operating officer of the AG2R La Mondiale company Yvon Breton, the team’s backer is is “particularly proud of the conduct of our riders. They are aggressive and show solidarity.”

Fellow French team Europcar yesterday announced that it too had received the continuation of its own sponsorship deal. The car rental company has come on board for an additional two years, ending questions about the team’s future.
