Contador, Kreuziger, Roche and others working on initial conditioning while planning towards 2014

Saxo tinkoffBack working hard after their end of season breaks, the riders of Team Saxo Tinkoff are currently clocking up the kilometres at a training camp in Gran Canaria.

Working out of the Anfi Emerald Club in the south of the island, team leader Alberto Contador plus team-mates such as Roman Kreuziger, Nicolas Roche, Michael Rogers and others are preparing for the season in warm temperatures and enjoying some very striking backdrops.

The riders are doing some foundation work on the bikes but also doing other exercises in order to build core strength and flexibility. In addition to that, they are also liaising with team owner Bjarne Riis and his staff in order to plan out their racing and training schedules.

The team will draw up plans for the entire 2014 season, although there will be scope to modify this later as form and injury dictate.

Contador is scheduled to ride both the Tour de France and the Vuelta a España next year, and said last month that he believed it could be possible to win both. He talked about his initial schedule this week, saying that he started back training sooner than last year and will begin racing later, with the establishment of a solid foundation being his big goal.

He previously said that he began racing too soon last year and never built the base he needed to hit peak form later in the year.

The camp will run until December 2nd.
