New Continental team CKT-Champion System has signed a very prominent rider with Estonian Jan Kirsipuu. The 40-year-old has made some headlines with his win at the Herald Sun Tour in October.
The team is led by Swiss team manager Dominic Keller. Kirsipuu is by far the most well-known and successful rider of the team. He won four stages of the Tour de France and wore the yellow jersey. In 2009, Kirsipuu celebrated seven wins. In 2010, he wants to concentrate on Asian races.
There are currently ten riders on the team. “The transfer activities are not closed yet,” said directeur sportif Markus Kammermann to Radsport News. We will still sign the odd rider.” Keller said that the team will ride with an Armenian license. The riders of this country form part of the team. “We are clearly targeting the Asian races, where cycling is celebrating an incredible boom.”
Other riders include Germans Holger Burkhardt and Serge Herz, Swiss rider Roger Beuchat for the European faction. Kirsipuu will get one compatriot to his side with Mart Ojavee. Asians on the team are Shusaku Matsuo (Japan) and Wang Yin-Chih (Taiwan). The Armenians Tigran Korkotyan, Gevorg Arkaelyan and David Mkrtchyan complete the team.
