The fiftieth edition of the Belgian semi-classic Brabantse Pijl will be moving its finish from Beersel further east to Overijse. Brabantse Pijl’s move on the cycling calendar prompted organizers to find a new location to overcome logistical problems.
In previous years, Brabantse Pijl was held the Sunday before the Tour of Flanders. With the changes on the calender, the race is set to take place on Wednesday April 14th, which puts the event between Paris-Roubaix and the Amstel Gold race. Race director Pascal Demol told Het Laatste Nieuws that Beersel Mayor Myriam Delacroix-Rolin was not in favor of running the same schedule for the race since it now takes place on a weekday.
Organizers said they would be forced to hold the finish before 16:00 hours if they were to keep the finish in Beersel, but for them they say that would bring on a “considerable amount” of logistical problems. Moving the finish to Overijse was a better option.
