The date for Davide Rebellin’s appearance at CONI, the Italian National Olympic Committee, has been set for January 22, according to Wielermagazine. Rebellin tested positive for CERA just prior to the Olympic road race.

Rebellin has already returned the medals and the prize money as requested but maintains that he is innocent. He cited a lot of problems with the testing procedure in China.

The Italian will now make his case to CONI and give his side of things. CONI has been quite active in the proceedings against dopers. Rebellin also announced that he will go to CAS, the sports court of arbitration in Lausanne, to resolve the matter.

The positive finding was announced just one week after his win in the 2009 Flèche Wallonne.
