No sooner had Spanish team Xacobeo Galicia received its Pro Continental license, it will head for a training camp, from Monday through Thursday in Mondariz Balneario. The team wants to make up for the time lost while being in limbo about its racing status for 2010.
The camp is the first get-together and shorter than usual. Part of the team will already travel to Argentina for the first race of the season, the Tour de San Luis (January 18-24).
Team manager Álvaro Pino is not disturbed by the fact that things start out differently than in the past. “It will be a typical pre-season camp, even though shorter than usual. The first objective is to find out how the riders are doing who have to start the season stronger. After that it is important to see how the form of the riders is in general. It is also an opportunity to get to know the new riders.”
All the riders will be there, “except for Carlos Castaño, who will be at camp with the Spanish track selection,” Pino said. The short camp ensures the days will be packed with activity. “The cyclists will receive their new material, will have rest sessions after the workouts and the first two days they will learn about biomechanics, power and resistance,” Pino said.
The team consists of Ezequiel Mosquera, David García, Gustavo C. Veloso, Gustavo Domínguez, Serafín Martínez, Gonzalo Rabuñal, Delio Fernández, Marcos García, Alberto Fernández and Vladimir Isaychev. New riders for 2010 are Gustavo Rodríguez, Rodrigo García, Francisco J. Pacheco, José A. De Segovia and Nelson Oliveira.
