The team’s lineup is back to full strength
The Milram team will be heading into the Tour de Suisse this Saturday looking to bring their leaders Fabian Wegmann and Gerald Ciolek into the Tour de France on a high note. Both Germans have battled back from injury this year and, with the team’s main sponsor stepping down at the end of this season, their presence will bring welcome reinforcements to the team.
Ciolek will lead Milram’s charge for stage wins as he goes up against his former teammate Mark Cavendish (HTC-Columbia) in the field sprints. The team has kept their confidence in the 23 year old, but with the Manxman out to prove himself to his critics beating him to the line will be a tall order.
The Swiss race will marks the return of Wegmann following his abandon in the Giro d’Italia due to back problems. “I am really looking forward to racing again,” said Wegmann. “I can’t wait to see how it goes, since I have trained a lot in the last few weeks and after a break like that, you don’t really know where you stand. So I hope that this test for the Tour de France goes well not only for me but for our whole team.”
The pair will be joined by Germans Johannes Fröhlinger, Artur Gajek, Dominik Nerz, Matthias Rüß and Björn Schröder, as well as Austrian Peter Wrolich.
