The man who crashed his car into a group of sixty riders during the El Tour de Tucson has come forward, being identified to authorities through his attorney.

The driver’s name is being witheld at this time.

When the group was struck 10 cyclists came tumbling to the ground sending five of them to the hospital. As of Tuesday one cyclist, Gary Stuebe of Surprise, Arizona, remains in critical condition at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix.

Michael Bloom, the attorney of the man admiting to have struck the cyclists, declined to answer any questions telling the Arizona Daily Star “we are cooperating with the investigation.”

The case will be brought before the Pima County Attorney’s Office to determine if any arrests will be made, an official said Wednesday.
