In 2009 25-year-old Heinrich Haussler was on the brink of notching up a season for the history books. As a part of the first year Cervélo TestTeam, the German-Australian rider managed to place second in two of cycling’s Monuments – Milan-Sanremo and the Tour of Flanders.
His performances continued throughout the season, culminating with a brave solo win in stage $$$ of this year’s Tour de France. For the young man that was previously called “a sprinter”, Haussler has shown himself to be a man for the future, not your typical fast man.
Today he announced that he would end his season in the Tour of Missouri, which takes place in the United States from September 7 th to the 13 th, meaning he won’t participate in the world championships in Medrisio, Switzerland.
“My goals are the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix,” said Haussler of his 2010 season.
“I want to stay in Germany this winter to train in difficult conditions, snow and cold, found in the Classics.”
While Haussler’s presence would have been good for the race, one can expect his commitment to next season to reveal a better Hausser, that will be looking to go one step higher on the podium.
