World champion rejoins team where she enjoyed her greatest early success

giorgia bronziniGiorgia Bronzini will be taking her new rainbow jersey to the newly merged Colavita-Forno d’Asolo team for 2011, according to tuttobiciweb.it. The newly crowned World champion rode for the USC Chirio Forno d’Asolo team, the Italian half of the team in 2005, and enjoyed a great deal of success; winning two stages of the Giro del Trentino, three stages of the Giro d’Italia, the Rund um die Nürnberger Altstadt World Cup race and two stages of the Giro della Toscana.

Although she reached a higher position in the World rankings while riding for Safi-Pasta Zara Manhattan in 2007, the quality and prestige of the wins did not match 2005.

“Sure and I do it with great pleasure,” said Bronzini of her move back to the team. “So far the 2005 season was my most successful, marked by eleven victories. I first showed myself by winning three stages in the Giro d’Italia [in Chioggia, San Francesco al Campo and Milano] which was followed by two second places and then also the final points jersey. Then came the victories of two stages in Toscana, the last World Cup race in Nürnberg, just before the World Championships in Madrid where I sprinted to sixth place.”

With the merger of the Chirio Forno d’Asolo and Colavita-Baci teams in 2011, there are great changes expected to the line up. Bronzini has been advising on which riders she would like to be working with in her World Championship season.

“For the Italian side,” she explained, “I proposed a list of names of Italian riders to Franco Chirio.. Then there are the mostly US names with which I have no problem working alongside. Despite the rainbow jersey I will keep my feet on the ground… I am very open and always willing to work with everyone. I will try to teach young people to many things and pretend the utmost professionalism from everyone.”
